That's what I thought too, but I read somewhere that you just do it
again. However *do not eject the media before redoing the image*.
Apparently that is the secret. I have done it, so I can vouch that it
works, and it does improve the image.

I still want an inkjet. But I want one that doesn't clog up and require
constant wet-nursing.

One of my motivations is to make distro CDs (especially Ubuntu) to give
to Windows users to try out. (Also OpenOffice.org.) I have done this in
the past, but they don't trust a CD that I hand them with stuff written
with a sharpie. They have heard so much about malware that they thank
me, then throw the disk in the closest trashcan as soon as I am out of
sight. If the disk looked "official" it would help a lot.

Apparently, it uses the barcode on the upper side to align correctly.
You can even burn 'multisession' with it.

The professional ones don't but they cost a _lot_ more than the
common 'give away the lamp, sell the oil' models.

There is shipit for Ubuntu, though the wisdom of suggesting _that_
particular distro to people you consider friends.. ;)

Fwiw, there are more more current packages out there and they
are in deb, nor rpm, format:

I don't know if your local jurisdiction does this, but one thing you
might want to look into is government surplus sales. I once got a used
color laser printer in working condition with all new high-capacity
cartridges already loaded in it for $90 from the Oregon Department of
Surplus Property. If you're near one, I can't reccommend the government
auctions enough.

Actually, I know about Oregon auctions, and they are near enough for
me. But I already have a color laser printer. What I need is something
to print color graphics on optical media. And I want to produce just a
few copies only once in a while.

If there was an inexpensive color laser printer that would do optical
media that would be great.
