Has anyone succeeded in downloading VMPlayer 3.0?
After logging in to the VMWare site and registered for
the download, the confirmation/activation email hasn't
come after more than 10 hours.

In past, creation of new VM was able to VM workstation, not in player.
Later, I have seen some article is is able to player too,
but not sure, if it was or was not a hack against VMware licence
policy.
I have also read recently, that in VMplayer 3 such a creation of VM is
available, similar to VirtualPC or VirtualBox.

Is it correct information ?

The best depends on how the best is defined.

The Freewarefiles/Softpedia download carries a slightly different
version number than the VM site. And yes, it took about four hours to
get their "in five minutes" activation email.

Freewarefiles/Softpedia:
F5645ADA2A20CEEBAFF2651D833E5E2D VMware-player-3.0.0-197124.exe

VM site download:

I downloaded it yesterday, got the email nearly 16 hours after
registration. The funny thing: I registered for VMWare Server for free
and got the registration code right now.

Btw: Why are you using VMWare player and not VMWare Server?

Hope I could help,

Daniel
