It's up to the manufacturer to enable (better: disable) this feature.
Without a BIOS that enables VT you're pretty much out of luck.
The T 2300e - to my best knowledge - is the only Core Duo
CPU that doesn't have the VT feature by default.

I have read this thread with great interest, because it seems as if I do have
the same problem. Other than Jeremy, I do have a Core 2 Duo E6300 which
definitely supports VT and the VT option in my BIOS is turned to "ENABLED". I
do have an ASUS P5B Premium Board.
Any suggestions?

One last follow-up to this thread.

I went back to HP's site and found a BIOS update for my laptop. After
installing the update the BIOS now has an option to enable/disable VT
support!

Now when I run VPC 2007 I see that hardware virtualization is available and
enabled.

Thanks for all you help folks.

Keep in mind that if you enable the VT in a bios, a restart won't enable it.
You must shut down first.
