Nope. I think this is some missing functionality and, if it bugged me enough, I'd probably search to see if someone else had requested this ability, and what had been said, or request it myself. > If I log out the VBox wants to shutdown or hibernate or what not the > virtual things. > > Is there a way I can leave them running while being logged out from the > host? VBox doesn't let you detach and reattach to a virtual machine. However, a possible workaround is to start the machine in headless mode and log in remotely. This will rely on you having ssh open on it and also knowing the IP address. You can then either start up vnc or nx if you want to use the GUI, or you could just use X-forwarding. There the virtual machines are "real" opposite to VBox guests which act like apps run by the logged in user. I'm quite surprised at the separation, and wonder if they might have a plan to fix this omission some time in the future.
