Because my local supplier told me my system was out of warranty and
Apple said the serial number wasn't in the range for free repair. It was
only after a letter to Apple Europe using words like merchandisable
quality and trading standards that I got a phone call from a nice German
(I suspect from her name and accent) lady to say the rebate was with my
dealer, unfortunately it wasn't so I spent an hour waiting for them to
sort it out. This time it should be a warranty repair as it's less than
a year since they fixed it.

Ah, I take it your local supplier wasn't Apple itself? The Apple Stores
/seem/ to be more generous.

No but they are a premium reseller and it was Apple who told them it
wasn't a warranty repair.

I bought one of these and the credit card I used (which I have only ever
used for balance transfers, so no-one else has the details) had nearly a
thousand pounds taken from it. I think the company is a bit of a scam.

The case took three weeks to turn up and didn't fit properly (it fits so
tightly on the screen that I think it's warped it - the colours have
gone funny). I tried to complain - just so I could get my money back -
but so far they've just ignored me.
