From: Ginny Caughey on 28 Jan 2010 14:05 Massimo, you could be exactly right. I read one comment yesterday that said that Microsoft must be congratulating themselves after yesterday's iPad announcement because they already showed something better running Windows 7. -- Ginny Caughey www.wasteworks.com "Massimo Bighelli" <info(a)arcasistemi.it> wrote in message news:4b61de98$0$1109$4fafbaef(a)reader4.news.tin.it... > > Ginny, > I am with you, here, I do not hope it flops. > My VERY PERSONAL opinion is: > as soon as the market starts, and numbers are good for iPad, here is the > WinPad, almost identical, touch screen, same dimensions, etc etc, but > capable to run all the software... > we will see > (I really don't see technical news) > > Massimo Bighelli > www.arcasistemi.it > > > > "Ginny Caughey" <ginny.caughey.online(a)wasteworks.com> ha scritto nel > messaggio news:00dd8611$0$17148$c3e8da3(a)news.astraweb.com... >> Martin, >> >> Well we *could* write for it if we learned Objective C and bought Macs >> for dev machines, but point taken. ;-) I guess we'd also need Apple to >> accept our apps too into their store too. >> >> I don't hope it flops, but I'm having a hard time seeing it as the home >> run that the iPhone was. From: Geoff Schaller on 28 Jan 2010 16:53 <rofl> I'm with you Gary. I have enough trouble just carrying my phone and because my laptop is glued to me, a second form factor just doesn't cut it. I've seen some hospital staff make use of tablets but even with Doctors, it hasn't really caught on. In the end, most people still want to get back to their desktop or laptop for serious access and a proper keyboard. So you're saying that you want it to succeed so that another manufacturer will jump in, copy it and make it cheaper? A bit cynical isn't it? Apart from the fact that by definition also, that is normal commerce, it won't "succeed" because the use for such a form factor is basically limited. It would be like building a car that sat only two people.... Geoff
From: Gary Miller on 28 Jan 2010 17:22 Geoff But there are cars that seat only 2 people: Smart Car, Corvette, Mazda Miata to name just a few. Are they successfull? You bet! But they are niche cars. Obviously it won't fit everyone's needs, but it will probably find its niche somewhere. Gary
From: Geoff Schaller on 28 Jan 2010 17:42 Yes... and niche is the word.
