despite my first reply in this thread stating firstly is she (the OP)
had tried "Last Known Good" if I you (or I) had read the OP's post properly we would
have realized that she's already tried :

"Last Known Good Configuration"
"Safe Mode"
"Start Windows Normally"

After my initial [wrong] statement, all I was trying to do was to then advise what
could be done other than overwriting all her user data (My Documents) which she
expressed some need to keep a hold of...
