I will grant, I like mysql on Linux the best but I prefer mysql to Oracle. Oracle is a clunky DB with 90% of it's code dead and overly complex. I figure with Sun/Oracle now controling mysql, Postgres should get quite a boost. I always thought Ingress was better, just didn't get the right marketing corruption to become #1. -- This depression is about liberal magots running debt liberally.

It is rare I now recomend Solaris but will if it fits the app/environemnt. I do believe it is the best OS server that can be had, but it's futures with Oracle... So unless the place is already Sun trained and there, I now do Linux. As for pathing, if it isn't broke don't fix it and you can pay on incident. If it is security patches, just put the boxen behind a well managed firewall. -- This depression is about liberal magots running debt liberally.

Where is it? And the one for Sparc? THANKS! David PS: other sources of info?

ZFS has only helped that too .. and makes restorable database snapshots workable ... (not saying that isnt possible on other file systems, but ... it's damn good!)
