But what I would need to happen is if I select submission 1, then the 4 columns of dates would fill with the dates associated with submission 1 of the child database. Then if I selected 2 those dates would populate the columns.

The expression can be any valid server or owner window method and this is the most obvious way to display columns from a related table.
