This reminds me of the attitude of some of my old Teaching Assistants: When in doubt, baffle them with bullshit ;-) In truth, finding something in YaST can be like drinking from a firehose for the beginner. There is a definite learning curve which you topped long ago but the OP is still standing at the bottom looking up. In this case, the KDE desktop/toolbar widget actually allows you to chose from several pre-defined profiles among which is "Filemanager" after you add it. Of course, you have to chose the appropriate profile each time you select the widget but by looking at the structure of that menu you quickly find the necessary command to launch a particular one and add your own icon but that doesn't accomplish the change in file associations as the desktop configuration path does. -- Will Honea

I am now a bit baffeld as running "Install > Software" and then typing "konqueror" gave me the needed info almost > right away. I am a bit baffeld now. Welcome to the club ;-). What KDE needs more than anything is a well organized index of how the hell you do a specific task searchable by description. Both YaST and KDE (and probably Gnome) suffer from the same problem as Vista did for me - it can take hours to find the subtle (and not necessarily obvious) path to common settings. Like a girl friend, they can do about anything for you (yes, THAT too! Just get careless with settings and see what happens). More and more, I find myself resorting to editing config files but that, too, has it's gotchas. In 11.2, right click on the toolbar and select 'Add Widget' (unlock widgets first). The Konqueror widget is in the default list. Add that to the toolbar and you get the icon on the toolbar. Click and the profile selection list pops up. Sound simple? It took me weeks to realize that was there! -- Will Honea
