From: Ǝиçεl on 29 Apr 2010 01:43 Arthur, Please always state which Windows edition and Service Pack level ? and what version of Internet Explorer? as it often does make a difference - Also, could you supply some information on what your firewall is, what is the installed antivirus/security suite, other R-TP programs, e.g. Spybot Search & Destroy (reduced functionality called "TeaTimer") Avira (From version 9) (Included in antivirus package), Ad-Aware, etc? Please do so in your next reply. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 -=- What error(s) do you get ? What is the exact error messªge? Further information required: How to view the Update log in Windows Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type %windir%\windowsupdate.log and then click OK. Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error code(s) associated with the latest failed attempt to download/install. Start at the bottom and work your way up to a section that shows an ERROR, WARNING, or FATAL. If appropriate copy and paste the error codes into this thread along with 30 or so *preceding* lines into your reply, so someone may be able to assist you. Also check Windows folder for file called KB******.log (****** = number of update ie (KB955706) and post the contents of the failed update. This may provide further clues as to why the update failed.
