Maybe someone recognizes the kind of compression and/or encryption used. You'll leave behind any trials, AOL stuff, etc. and have a basic updated clean install CD: http://www.easydesksoftware.com/recovery.htm It worked like a charm for me. I was just playing around with it.

But, no matter which directory I select, autostreamer says nyet. But heck, that's just autostreamer's POV. The complete file is available via rapidshare. It is 1.57KB so I figured the whole enchilada may be worthwile. Fyi, the other ".IMG" file (SONY.IMG) is 662MB. If this is interesting to someone...well, I'd be thankful but also mildly concerned for your well-being <grin>. http://rapidshare.de/files/34055766/SONYD.IMG.html >> On top of that, Sony support (so far) won't budge. Bear; Thanks for that. Considering that I *am* saddled w/admin'ing these lappies, I'm sure I can plead the part convincingly <snarl>. much appreciated, -Craig

Thx lugnut but that was the 2nd thing I'd tried. Old tricks, y'know? <grin> appreciated, -Craig

The method described by the easydesksoftware people sounds very /very/ simple compared to the other methods I've found on-line. Thank you REM for the linky. Guess I'll be investigating this one. But then, what else was I going to do w/the weekend? Golf? <bah!> -Craig
