I hadn't heard of CopyCatX until now, but I see it's from SubRosaSoft.com, which also sells FileSalvage, and _that_ is a direct competitor to Data Rescue. I've never done a head-to-head comparison of Data Rescue and FileSalvage, but both companies let you download and run their product for free, only requiring payment once you've determined if it's able to perform the recovery you're attempting. At the time I needed such a utility, having already determined that Disk Warrior wasn't going to to it, Data Rescue has slightly better ratings at VersionTracker.com, so I went with that, and it was able to do a full recovery of my client's files. -- Mac and geek T-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi> Make money while saving money <http://www.bign.com/mrosenberg>

Thanks for the info! -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me. E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my very hungry SPAM filter. Due to Google's refusal to prevent spammers from posting messages through their servers, I often ignore posts from Google Groups. Use a real news client if you want me to see your posts. JR

You're welcome and, BTW, I've since used Data Rescue to recover successfully from to other nearly dead drives, one of which had been erased before the Genius gave up on it. -- Mac and geek T-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi> Make money while saving money <http://www.bign.com/mrosenberg> |
