I am using IE8 on Windows 7 to access Remote Web Workplace on an SBS2003
server. When I use Window key - E to open a file explorer window, it opens
it on my local PC. On XP, it opened explorer on the remote PC. Is there a
special hotkey sequence I can use to open explorer on the remote PC? Or is
there a setting somewhere?

Thank you.

Hello Jerry,

Thanks for your post.

Have you checked the local RDP settings on the Windows 7 client computer?

Run "mstsc" command on Windows 7 computer, the "Remote Desktop Connection" widow will appear, go to "Local Resources" tab, then under Keyboard, "Apply Windows
key combinations" , you can choose to apply Windows key to local computer or remote computer. Please have a try.

Hope this helps.

I have it set to "On the remote computer" and it did not help.
What shall I try next?

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for your reply.

I thought the "Apply Windows key combinations" option is just the right place we should check. So does this issue occurs to other Windows 7 client if you have any? If it's the
only Windows 7 computer, please try to reset IE settings or use other Internet browser software and test the issue.

Reset Internet Explorer (IE)
==========
1. Click Start, please type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter to open the Internet options window.
2. Switch to the Advanced tab.
3. Click the Reset Internet Explorer Settings button.
4. Click Reset to confirm the operation.
5. Click Close when the resetting process finished.
6. Uncheck Enable third-party browser extensions option in the Settings box.
7. Click Apply, click OK.

BTW, how about the situation that using RDP connection(run "mstsc" command instead of via RWW) to direct connect to the SBS server? Does the hotkey still not work? How
about using Full Screen mode after the remote session connected? Please also give it a go.

Hope this helps.

I only have one Windows 7 PC outside of the company. I did the reset and it
did not change. RWW requires an ActiveX control, so it won't work with a
non-ie browser.

I tried RDP. The key sequence works fine there, but, I can only connect to
the server, not the workstations.
