I agree it would be nice as an option.

You can do it in both trillian and adium if you want,

Because the guys that did iChat are *better* at interfaces than the
other guys?

Which I think is true.

Same way that for me the Mac UI is *better* than the Windows one,
because Apple are better and more creative than Microsoft. It happens;
some people and groups are simply better than others.

Ah, ok. I installed Trillian yesterday but didn't go any further
because it looked like you had to have an Astra account to use it
(whatever that is)?

I'll try Adium the next time I go into OSX.

I have no idea. I never had one and used trillian for ages. Just
recently I have changed computer and haven't put anything other than the
MSN client on there (which I will as without doubt that is the worse IM
client I have ever seen!)

In this case, compared to adium, I think they are way off the mark.
Adium is much better as an interface than iChat by default. but it also
has the advantage of different networks, plus the ability to change your
interface to one you prefer.

And it has a duck icon, that even Rowland could recognise in a busy
dock, rather than iChat which if I remember correctly is yet another
blue round thing

Next you will be saying that safari is better than firefox for the same
reason!
