I've just bought a pre-loved original iPhone from a chap at work that's
now destined for my lad. The lad's not likely to change his pattern of
usage much so he'll be sticking with Asda mobile PAYG, and consequently
the iPhone's needed unlocking.

To keep things as simple as possible, I've put a new O2 PAYG SIM into
the iPhone, popped sufficient credit on it to cover the unlocking charge
and filled out the O2 online form.

O2 state that I should receive the unlock within 14 days, but does
anyone know how long it's likely to take in practice? I've got a lad
that's keen to get his hands on the new phone (understandably; I'd love
an iPhone too), but I'm equally keen to ensure that the requisite
balance remains on the account until the unlock has happened to save me
having to top up again and increase the delay

Cheers; I was browsing that a moment ago. Looks like it could be
anywhere between 3 and 14 days, or maybe longer.

And in my case it came through today, which is about 2 days. Not bad at all.

Asda SIM now all in and working; lad happy.
