I'm a firm believer in, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but somehow a system update got past me and 'upgraded' me to iTunes 9. x (from 8.x). Now I can't use the iTunes Store - popup says it requires Safari 4. I don't use Safari at all. I CAN'T upgrade to Safari 4 (unless I'm willing to update to 10.5.8 - I'm not, see above quote). I feel it is extremely unprofessional of Apple to allow an installer to run on a machine which does not meet minimum requirements. And further, this silliness of requiring a specific browser if I want to send Apple money is a piece of slime I thought only worthy of Micro$oft!

You me Apple now has a proprietary rendering engine? They've declared their own standard? I though M$FT was pompous!

I though M$FT was pompous! it's called webkit, and it's open source and one of the most standards compliant render engines around. it's used not just by apple, but by palm, nokia, google and others.
