From: Scott on 24 Feb 2010 21:43 I have two questions to ask about MS Project. I have a flleet of trucks in my company and I was wanting to know if the system can notify me when my trucks are in need of service (oil change). Also, can the system email my subcontractor a day in advance to notify them they need to be at the jobsite the next day to start their work. Thanks Scott

Project is a tool for doing project cost/schedule computations. It is not well suited for either of the needs you have, as described. If you want a system for notification of oil change, probably a) buy one on the market, or b) develop something. For that you'll need to figure out how it that the computer can decide such a thing. You'll need a database of trucks, drivers, data to support the oil-change-detection alogrithm (which presumably requires feedback on mileage, etc.) I also think that setting up project to email subcontactor about having to on the jobsite is also a stretch. Sounds like a dispatching system. Again, there are probably systems (computer or manual) than can be purchased or even designed for this. I wouldn't do it in Project. --rms www.rmschneider.com On 25/02/10 02:43, Scott wrote: > I have two questions to ask about MS Project. > > I have a flleet of trucks in my company and I was wanting to know if the > system can notify me when my trucks are in need of service (oil change). > > Also, can the system email my subcontractor a day in advance to notify them > they need to be at the jobsite the next day to start their work. > > Thanks > > Scott |
