From: Trevor Wright on 29 Apr 2010 09:17 Is it possible to tidy up or rationalise the order of folders and files as displayed in a dialogue box, as for example a Save dialogue box? It seems that the display of files and/or folders in such boxes is relentlessly alphabetical. For example, is possible for them to be displayed by type? -- Trevor Wright

Have you tried using list view, then clicking the type column? I can't actually offer the sighted method this time, VoiceOver includes the ability to sort by a selected column via a shortcut key.

To explain, I press Command 2 to enter list, interact with the table, Move to the type column, press Control + option + | to sort on that column. Not sure how to do it visually, tried double clicking the mouse manually and this doesn't seem to work. I'm suspecting you need to move a few pixels to the left of the column identification text.

No, only by name or date (if you have selected List view). Daniele

You'd think something like this would make the main UI. |
