I purchased a new MB167LL/A Apple Wireless Keyboard. The
instructions
state:
Turn on the keyboard
Turn on the Mac
When Mac starts up, follow onscreen instructions in Setup Assistant

Problem is when I turn on my Mac I have to enter my password and at
this point the new wireless keyboard is not functioning. This is a
which came first problem, the chicken or the egg.

How do I complete the Setup Assistant without the use of the keyboard

Boot the machine using a wired keyboard, then go to System Preferences
> Bluetooth > Set Up New Device and follow the prompts to pair the new
keyboard.
The next time you boot the Mac the wireless keyboard will be active.

If you need to enter a password on the computer then you must have had
another keyboard which you used to set up the computer.

Use that keyboard to log in, then pair the wireless keyboard, then you
are away.

unplug the old usb keyboard, reboot. The machine will detect no keyboard
available and enter the "association" asistant for pairing another
keyboard.
