I bought a local SIM card on the DiGi network when I was in Malaysia. International text messages cost RM0.20 (around 3.6p), so she's not going to get much cheaper than that whatever way she does it. If she could borrow another phone to take with her on the trip, or use a dual-SIM phone, then she could use her normal UK SIM car to receive texts from friends in the UK on her normal number. DiGi also have quite good rates on data charges. Internet connections are capped at RM5 per day (around 90p). Chris |
