may as well anyway. some is fact, some opinion, mine and others. The maximum RAM available to SBS03 is 4GB. The full 4GB can only be made available to the OS if memory mapped devices, normally located in this 4GB space can be moved out of the space. This requires the hardware to support addressing outside 32bit, normally using the same mechanisms which allow PAE in the OS. We hit a difference, and oft discussed common problem at this point, 'I put 4GB of RAM into my server but it only reports 3.5GB'. Any SBS03 system with 4GB of installed RAM that does NOT report the full 4GB _probably_ does not support PAE, and therefore cannot have a single page file >4GB. The paging file on the OS drive should be 4GB. The possibility exists for multiple paging files either on the same drive or another, in most cases SBS 03 will not benefit much from this even if it is on a separate drive. An SBS system that busy ain't gonna work too well no matter how many nor how large the PFs, particular as it is not proper server hardware. An SBS03 system which reports the full 4GB is _most likely_ going to run in PAE mode which allows a PF above 4GB (and I think install creates it at 6GB). This actually creates a problem because a certain space (could be PTEs, or a handle of some kind) changes from using short address pointers to the PF to using long, exhausting the space quicker. This can be rectified by reducing the PF to under 4GB. For optimum performance the PF under Windows should be no smaller than installed RAM and no larger than is required.
