All my servers are 2003 RTM to start with. I remember phoning for
the hotfix on the same day that I installed SP1, because these
sudden beeps were driving me crazy.
The good thing was that it showed me that I had a flaw in my test
environment. I had tested SP1 for a week on a dedicated testTS with
real users, but had not implemented exactly the same automated jobs
on the test server which are running on my production servers. And
one of those jobs included the wait command which produced the
beeps (one beep every 30 seconds, on 15 servers!). So I had failed
to notice the beeps in my tests.
