From: stevenspendburg on 13 Jul 2010 07:07 had fresh install few months back of xp, everything was working fine then used ccleaner then right after noticed problems.....missing or corrupted drivers including driver for cd/dvd drive then system crash, recover from serious error now windows will only start in safe mode... I am thinking of trying repair xp http://pctechnotes.com/how-to-repair-windows-xp-without-formatting-your-pc/ the install disk I have does not have sp3 on it, will it work ok and is this best option

A repair installation may not work for you. You can make an XP disc with SP3 by slipstreaming: http://www.howtohaven.com/system/slipstream-xp-service-pack-3.shtml ....or hundreds more sites with instructions are available to you.

Some, Norton in particular, will prevent system restore from working. Stef
