I just spotted that LR3 is out with Student discount. Hmm, might be
worth a trial of it for that price, and see if it really is better than
Aperture.

But, you have to go through fiery hoops to get the discount, fair enough
I guess, and you have to be a rich kid at an 'accredited public or
private school' to qualify. So, basically the discount only applies to
those that are well off enough to buy the full version anyway!

Having said that, I see they've dropped the full price dramatically,
more in line with that of Ap3.

Still, for all that, I'm happy enough with Ap3 myself to not want to
bother any further.

Surely by 'public school' they mean a state school, not Eton or
Winchester.

One thing I wouldn't want to do without are LR's graduated filters, very
flexible - better than real grads in many ways - and indispensable for
landscape photography.

That's one of those mistranslations (or lack of translations) between
American & English.

Over there, a "Public School" is not Eton etc, but what we'd call a
"State School". Publicly funded.

Which makes sense. I never understood the meaning of public school over
here to mean private.

I guess it is like unlimited!
