Are you sure, that there is no copy protection on these DVDs ?

Sure. I made some of them myself from a TV recording on TAPE.

Are the recordings finalised?
Can Windows or any other OS read them?
Can a normal DVD _player_ read them?
DVD recorders usually write VR discs of some description that need to be
"finalised" on the recorder to make them readable by a computer or
normal DVD player.
