Updating normally here. Hacked to not show ads.
The servers are sometimes overloaded, last updates have been in
the region of 4-5 Mb.

Check if your personnal key still valid. If not, get a new one from
Avira. It should be update in its the remaining 30 days, but you
could have it missed.

As stated, this has not been my experience; I should have specified

Since the 14th July, each time it has tried its daily update, the
update window simply says, after a pause of a few seconds 'Status - An
error occurred during the file download'.

Since doing a manual update a few hours ago and manually clicking on
update - I get exactly the same message.
