That'll have Strunk and White spinning in their graves; well, White anyway as he was editor of the NY.

Does it not work when charging or something? That would be useless for me, when I am using it now at a show or something I just plug it in and leave it there. The web interface is pretty good, although the english is entertaining - This page enables you to set up the product in the safe way - and gives a lot of options. Well worth the hack tbh. -- Woody

It is the pure inconvenience of it. Getting any device connected is a three stage button, first you press the on button, then a minute later you press the internet connect button, and then you press the wireless button. The wireless and the internet disconnect after a period of inactivity and need to both be reactivated manually. It is not possible to automate the process or stop disconnection with the original firmware.

You press the bottom button to power it, the middle one to connect the wireless and then the top one to connect to the net. Only sometimes they don't and you have to wait a bit to see if they did, and then sometimes you press them again and thye start and stop. Yes, a big faff. Now I have them set to automatically connect, so I just press and hold the bottom button, and then some while later everything is on. I turned the auto disconnect off too, as in the way that I use it, it either needs to be all on or all off and power is not that much of an issue. -- Woody |
