It's getting difficult to find an inkjet that _isn't_ a MFD, and almost as difficult to find a low-end inkjet that is significantly cheaper than a low-end laser. Epson UK seems to have exactly _one_ inkjet that's not a MFD, (at 40...) and Brother UK doesn't have any. Cheapest MFD is 70, cheapest laser is 85. -- email to oshea dot j dot j at gmail dot com.

I wish there were. I have a networked 6MP (via an ethernet to Appletalk adaptor) and I have to keep a copy of 10.5 on a partition of my external HD jst for printing. Phil Taylor

Don't supposed it helped (it being 'old' that is). Mind you, how old must my ip4000 be now (running with cheap copy carts since new)? > >> Joking aside, I have always been concerned re the thought of fitting >> any extra load to the carriage mech (not saying that's what killed >> yours etc), especially these days when everything is pared to the >> minimum. > >I doubt that in this case, there's no extra load on it at all. I think that's impossible, unless the ink is dripped in there from above <g>. I take what you are saying though in that the pipes feeding the ink to the heads may offer *negligible* load to the carriage mech but it can't be none (inc inertial loads)? But if you say it's the paper path that's failed and assuming they aren't using a common system etc then as you say, it might just be one of those things. ;-( Any chance your ink kit would fit a current model? Yeah, it's the 6MP I have, but it only has an old Apple serial and Parallel ports. Mind you, I do have a JetDirect box with it. All said, I don't really need it at the moment anyway.
