Bloody printer, it's just died. Looks like the feed mechanism has
decided to jam itself up. I've had it apart, given things a move, and it
worked for half a page, then stopped again.

That was my, until now very happy with it, Canon iP4500. And I just
fitted the CISS to it :-(.

Seeing as I got fed up with Epsons blocking heads, and HPs have dire
software, and this is the second Canon to develop a fault.

Anything else that can do duplex, and last more than 5 minutes
(metaphorically). Doesn't need networking, as I use this on my Airport
Extreme.

I don't need all-in-one particularly either, I have a scanner, which is
working fine thus far (yup, now I see the four horsemen riding towards
it).

Laser or inkjet? Lots of cheap Brother lasers out there.

Inkjet. I have a laser here (an old LJ4100DTN, which belongs to the
church, but I make use of it too for the small amount I need). Actually,
I also have an old LJ6 in the loft, but I'm not sure that'll work with
10.6.

Cheers.

(I know you shouldn't kick a man when he's down but) Looks like the
rules to the 'who has the lowest printer running costs' competition
have just changed then. ;-)

Joking aside, I have always been concerned re the thought of fitting
any extra load to the carriage mech (not saying that's what killed
yours etc), especially these days when everything is pared to the
minimum.

Bad luck though.

Yeah, although I guess I should have considered that I was fitting it to
a 2 year old machine anyway.

I doubt that in this case, there's no extra load on it at all.

Yeah, thanks :-(
