Oh, wholeheartedly agreed. Happy with the purchase, and a couple of

In theory yes, but in practice (and my experience) this a risky option.

The only 2 "clearance" phones I've had were both faulty. In both
cases the faults were obscure and took me a few months to find (one
had a faulty forward facing camera, so wouldn't do video calls) and
hence out of the 90 day "clearance" warranty.

In reality, only the factory that made the phone is capable of fully
testing something as complex as a mobile phone. The returns channel
will be cluttered with phones that show as 'no fault found' and the
repairs company will have no no option but to class these as 'no
fault' and repackage them for sale.
