If it's any help, I got so fed up with authors taking my word template and redefining the styles - with the result that when you imported their stuff into the final document either their styles reverted and their work no longer filled the page properly, or their style contaminated the whole document, mucking up everyone else's contribution - that I wrote some macros that renamed their styles by appending their initials. Their document can then be safely imported and the styles gradually changed to the proper ones one at a time so that damage can be spotted early. I didn't go quite as far as checking for style variances automatically but that wouldn't be too hard. I can drop a copy of them to you if you think this approach might help. > Also, interestingly, usually the cleverer the person the more problems > they seem to have accepting boring conventions and working to schedules, > plans, templates and schemes. Yes, like the old saying "Making something fool proof is easy. Making something proof against clever people is impossible." -- Bruce Horrocks Surrey England (bruce at scorecrow dot com)
