fmincon with implicit matrix operators I am looking for the fmincon type function which could solve following problem min f(s) s.t Es=y where f(s) is some function of s, E is an implicit operator, meaning not an explicit matrix. Is there any such function or code available in MATLAB? Sylvia ... 13 Apr 2010 13:55
Mexican hat and Gaussian function Hi, according to Wkipedia, the Mexican hat wavelet is the negative normalized second derivative of a Gaussian function. I can verfiy this analytically and numerically. But I don't understand how to relate the resulting pulse's frequency to the parameters of the Gaussian function. Could someone enlighten me? Ka... 14 Apr 2010 11:01
High Pass Filter Ringing - Time Domain Hi, I'm using an off-the-shelf DSP package to apply an FFT-based highpass filter to a time-domain signal. This causes 'ringing' in the output, where a sine wave appears from nowhere having the same frequency as the high pass cut-off frequency. The DSP package does not provide much information about how the filter wo... 28 Apr 2010 11:41
optimal linear prediction in image processing? Hi all, I am wondering if you guys know any paper or book chapter discussing optimal linear prediction for 2D or more specifically for image processing? I tried to look for it in the library in my university but could not find it. Thank you. ... 13 Apr 2010 16:11
Tracking Bandpass Filters Hi, this message board has been a good resource for my other question but I have one that hasn't really been answered so I decided to post. I'm working on a research project that requires some precise DSP. Essentially we have a feedback oscillator (optical and not electrical but thats unimportant). And we are look... 11 Apr 2010 22:19
FMCW Radar help required. Hi All, For an FMCW Rdar I plan to provide a 100us ramp to sweep 300MHz . I get an (IF) of 40Khz for a distance of 1meter . My Gunnplexer datasheet shows an (IF) band width of no more than 5000Hz . Then how is it possible to capture 40Khz (IF) ? . Charles ... 11 Apr 2010 21:13
OFDM timing synchronization Hi, I've been struggling with OFDM timing synchronization using Schmidl algorithm for some time but I can't figure out how to find the sample at which the symbol starts. Authors seem to have the same problem but apparently they don't mention how to deal with it -- or is it just me not understanding it? Th... 13 Apr 2010 12:47
16 qam receiver symbol clock recovery noise We are currently simulating our final 16QAM Tx/Rx RTL design in ModelSim. The Rx front end consists of symbol clock recover + matched filter(designed by a colleague) followed by carrier tracking module(my design). We first deemed the symbol clock recovery+matched filter (without connecting carrier tracking yet) as ... 10 Apr 2010 12:23
