Yes. However, iTunes isn't the only place to get stuff. I like to
listen to CarTalk, for example. It's available on iTunes, but it's
also available at cartalk.com, and I find it easier to get from there
even though I have an itunes account.

As the perlheads say "there's more than one way to do it". Google
often provides alternatives.

Ah, I hadn't considered this at all. In my head, all I heard was "Hey, why
won't this link work if it's free?" :-)

Check out Songbird (http://www.songbirdnest.com). It's a pretty cool
player with search features built in... you can search for free content
without leaving the app

Accounts cost nothing. You do not need to buy anything from the iTunes
store just because you have an account. Set up an account and you can
easily use iTunes to download free content. No problem; I do it all the
time.

It should certainly work. Try contacting Apple's tech support if you
would like to fix that problem.
