From: MacGuy on 18 Jan 2010 16:18 Perhaps one of you Facebook experts can help. I subscribed to a group and was receiving excessive notifications to my private email. I unsubscribed, or at least I thought I did, in order to stop receiving notifications. One month later and the emails continue. How do I get them to stop? I dont want to stop all notifications just those from this particular group. Thanks.

I'm not positive on this, but I believe you should only get email from groups if they (1) send messages to their members or (2) gave them an email address (I know that the Causes thing does this) to let them send you stuff. You might check the privacy or application settings, though, and see if you have something for the group which you could disable. -- Steve W. Jackson Montgomery, Alabama
From: MacGuy on 18 Jan 2010 19:50 Thanks Steve, I didn't think about blocking the email address using my email app. That should work, I'll give it a try.

I know little of facebook other than I wish I hadn't started any involvement with it at all. In answer to your question, I have found that if I respond to a particular thread, then all successive responses--to that thread--will be routed to my email. In this way I can be made aware of any exciting results immediately. So if you killed "a group" but are still participating in the same threads as "the group" is, then you'll continue to get emails "updating" you on the threads activities. I'm not sure if that addresses your irritation, but it might address the next, of many, irritations possible via assface, ... er, facebook. -- Thank you and have a nice day.

This has what to do with Macs? -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
