Well, of course only FredW can say whether or not this was the situation but now that you mention it, Ron, when I installed PCTools Firewall Plus 6 on my Sony, I also noticed that default configuration setting and went with the advanced configuration. > I still use Kerio 2.1.5 on XP and would use it on Vista if it worked (but > it doesn't). I thought the HIPS in PCTools would drive me nuts, but it really wasn't that bad to work through. My only concern with PCTools Firewall Plus 6 is the one I already mentioned in this thread -it seems to only start once the system is pretty much fully booted. Kerio is always the first icon in my tray on this computer. Thanks for your input, Ron. -- John Corliss BS206. I decided to go with PC Tools Firewall Plus 6 after reviewing this website: http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php You might want to read Ron May's post to this thread regarding why FredW might have experienced what might have been problems with PC Tools Firewall 6. -- John Corliss BS206. Uninstalled it and went with Online Armor. Seems to be doing a good job. Very similar to Sygate in most aspects. Is there a good online test for Firewalls, other than GRC? I passed that with Sygate and now with Online Armor. Other test sites are intrusive. Thanks. Al |
