IIRC then it ended up using just under 2Gb - presumably as it assesses the amount needed for the installation but some files are either overwritten of deleted thus reducing the space taken up by the final product. -- David Kennedy http://www.anindianinexile.com

The internal on my Powerbook G4 is Leopard, with 8.3 GB free, the external with Tiger has 17.6 GB free, both 80 GB disks. Stuff installed on them is very similar (I don't remember, but it looks like I did an import from the latter to the former). I recall disk usage on my desktop G5 going up when I upgraded that from Tiger to Leopard, so that was enough to notice, say a few (5 to 10) GB. So I would say that it looks like it'll be very tight. Kind regards, Dave

Impossible to say. Depends on how much junk (languages, printer drivers, etc) there was, and how much you will install. Just do it, and see, Jan

The Q is more difficult to answer because we don;t know what yuor current install might be like. When I put leiopard on my G4 tower I chose custom install with no langage option and no printer drivers, whch saved nealry 1.5GB. If you're Tiger OS has the printer drivers it might update them, all of them when even they aren;t used. Not sure why your library is so large, maybe final cut pro dumped some stuff there. I thought a fresh system 10.5 only requred a min of 2GB or so. |
