Sounds like shortly after you got it, something you did, or a power surge, or some other event altered one or more files on the disk causing a problem which was moved to the new iMac when they "copied my old system over" > I finally decided this weekend to install SL, hoping it would help. Voila! > My iMac is once again a fully functioning machine! Don't know what SL does So then you installed a new version of the O.S., thereby replacing whatever file(s) had been corrupted, and/or wiping out some malware you had allowed in. (Yes, Macs can get _malware_ if the owner is careless. That statement does NOT contradict the claim of no known Mac _viruses_.) -- Wes Groleau Trying to be happy is like trying to build a machine for which the only specification is that it should run noiselessly. -- unknown

I guess your reading skills are missing. But I digress... Here's the relevant part of the article : "A few people"

Obviously, this kind of thing, contrary to fanboi beliefs, can and does occasionally happen on a mac. I believe it happens much less frequently on macs than on Windoze machines, but I don't have any numbers to prove that. Funny how the fanbois accuse me of being a troll for reporting problems with my iMac. Of course, I must be a troll! It's impossible for anyone to have problems with an Apple product!! When I reported these problems here back when they were first occurring, I was accused of being a troll then - just making it all up. Must be nice to live in a fantasy world! |
