I've, unfortunately, not found anything better than Mail. I do think it
has many shortcomings though.

I'm holding out for Letters.app, the possible open source IMAP mail
client from Brent Simmons, Gus Mueller and John Gruber.

If there is anything better count me in!

If you do, please let CTM know. I too badly need better IMAP support in
PowerMail, and anything that helps encourage them...

Very much so. I suspect (and fear) it isn't going to happen, because
none of them know how to organize a project with more than 1 developer.
Also they don't understand IMAP and SMTP fully.
