From: Steve Giannoni on 19 Jun 2010 15:45 The yellow shield offers the following two updates, which appear to install in the usual way : Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB982168) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP x86 (KB979909) The yellow shield disappears for about a minute, then reappears, offering to install the same two updates ! The only way to get rid of these is to select the manual update, and uncheck the updates, etc. How to assess the consequence of doing this ? Do they actually get installed as indicated ? Other's thoughts and discussion most welcome & thanks ...

I would not tolerate using a computer that did not have all the security updates installed so ignoring the shield is no good as far as I am concerned. How did you get on with Microsoft 'get help now' support people? Did they tell you to download and run the net fix utility, then reinstall the.net frameworks then go through the update process again? ;)
