I use :w and :q as separate commands 'cuz I want to know the write worked. Which probably also means that I'm alone when I use the hjkl keys instead of those new-fangled arrow keys. When the latest Firefox update prompted me to update Flash, the .tar.gz with only the .so file in it was what it downloaded. I guess they figure that somebody who downloads the .tar.gz knows what to do ;-) -Joe

The best thing about vi, besides it being available on so many platforms (even the VAX/VMS box I log into every once in a while has it) is you don't have to move your hands away from the home keys. Gotta admit, I tend to use :wq together, though.... - Kurt |
