I haven't seen any suggestion that there is a magic undocumented sequence to access a built-in EFI shell, because there is no such shell in the Mac's firmware. I have seen mention of a mechanism to boot off a specially prepared volume which _includes_ an EFI shell, via rEFIt, but never tried it.
