From: Juan I. Cahis on 27 Apr 2010 15:53 Dear friends: Is there a list of all the different alternatives at boot time, when booting Snow Leopard? Yesterday, I pressed inadvertently the Shift key when booting, and a thermometer indicator appeared and took half a minute to complete its process, but no message appeared telling me what was it happening. I know that if you press "Alt" at boot time, you can choice among the different partitions to boot from, but which are the other possibilities? Thanks a lot again. Thanks Juan I. What you seem to describe is the standard firmware update progress indicator. You probably installed software updates without restarting at some point, and the firmware update installed after you restarted. Holding Shift during startup boots in Safe Mode, which is unrelated. -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me.
