My partner has the Apple Aluminium extended and she likes it a lot. It is just like a laptop keyboard in action. It is compact and still looks nice after a year's heavy use. I am a huge fan of the Matias keyboards - I bought a Tactile Pro 2 a few years ago and use it every day for coding and writing. It is excellent in action if you like long-stroke mechanical clacky keys. I have to say though that my partner, with her silent keyboard, finds the noise from my keyboard a little annoying. Hey-ho. I suppose the other drawback is that it gets dirty and is hard to clean under the clear plastic parts. In fact I can type much faster on it than on other keyboards- the only keyboard I found to be as good and as exhilarating to use was a Cherry that I bought many many years ago when building a PeeCee. It went with the machine when I sold it, and the nearest thing I could find, for goodness, was a Nimitz which I still have in the cupboard. With an ADB/USB adapter I still use it from time to time, but the Matias wins hands down. > I > have to say though that my partner, with her silent keyboard, finds the > noise from my keyboard a little annoying. Networking solves the problem; Anne and I work in separate rooms, so that's all right. As for the clear plastic overlay, it clips off very simply, but in fact I've hardly ever had to clean under it. -- Peter

Yep defo don't base any judgement on the MacBook keyboard, whilst I can use the MacBook keyboard fine, I just cannot use the short keyboard at all well (touch typist), but can switch between the flat full size aluminium & the old white keyboards fine. -- Jon B Above email address IS valid. <http://www.bramley-computers.co.uk/> Apple Laptop Repairs. |
