It happens on our Phaser 7400, but not on our Phaser 85xx's. The 7400 is a
conventional laser with toner, rather than the wax-using 85xx's. I was
going to say that perhaps the wax sticks don't get monitored like toner,
but that's not true; the printer will tell you when you're low on
supplies. So, probably a driver thing.

I got the same with my Brother MFC-885CW. It can be accessed when the
ink is NOT low by choosing Supply Levels from the menu in the middle of
the print dialog.

Quite handy having it there as a standard feature in the print dialog
(at least for drivers which have implemented it) rather than having to
run a separate application.

Whoever wrote this thing was obviously a USAian. The "Last updated"
field prints a US format date. Bloody lazy programmers. If I get annoyed
enough about it I'll file a bug report. It may be specific to the
printer brand/model.

Odd, because this *is* a Canon inkjet. An MP610, to be precise.

I get both an amber triangle (which isn't a button) and an amber button
(which clearly is a button).

Oops - you're right. They're both buttons. Why can't a button be made to look
like a button?
