Actually, I think I have the anti-dancing "rationale" figured out:

Dancing is rhythmic, and frequently rather "jiggy," which inevitably leads
to folks snapping their fingers, slapping their legs, and clapping, which
runs the risk of encouraging the occasional "one-handed" clap,
which...(well, you know).

Anyway, here's something else to ponder: Why does John's sect forbid
dancing but allow watching other people dance?
