On the contrary, it was called for directly; he wasn't required to
answer, of course, but it wasn't uncalled for.

People asked them questions, and they've answered them. Whether
those people needed help answering seems irrelevant, since the
questions are being asked and answered.

I doubt there's much chance you'll be able to convince people not to
ask questions about freeware, no matter how sinister you think such
