From: John Navas on 28 Jun 2010 13:21 One of Google Android's strengths relative to Apple's iPhone -- at least from a market share and platform adoption perspective -- is that it's quickly getting sprayed everywhere. The latest: Four more Android smartphones from Samsung, which were just announced for all four major U.S. wireless carriers. They're all part of Samsung's new "Galaxy S" lineup of high-end phones. None of these phones will likely sell as well individually as Apple's new iPhone 4. But broadly, Android's ever-growing adoption by mobile phone makers and mobile carriers could eventually push Google's market share above Apple's for good. All three have these same base specs: * Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor * 4 inch Super AMOLED display 480800 capacitive display * Google Android 2.1 operating system * 5 megapixel camera with HD video (720p) support * Front facing camera with Qik video calling support * 802.11 b/g/n WiFi * Bluetooth 2.1 3.0 * 1500 mAh battery * Six-axis sensor for improved gaming experience * Swype text input keyboard * Samsung Social Hub * Samsung AllShare Application with DLNA support * Dimensions: 4.9 inches 2.54 inches x 0.56 inches and 5.46 ounces -- Best regards, John If the iPhone and iPad are really so impressive, then why do iFans keep making excuses for them?
From: John Navas on 1 Jul 2010 12:02 First Look: Samsung debuts its Galaxy S line of Android smartphones <http://www.businessweek.com/idg/2010-06-30/first-look-samsung-debuts-its-galaxy-s-line-of-android-smartphones.html> And the 4-in. 800-by-480-pixel screens are indeed impressive. Graphics are sharp, fast and clear, even at extreme angles. If you have to watch Avatar on a tiny screen, this is the screen to watch it on. The phones are driven by Samsung's proprietary 1-GHz Hummingbird processor, which includes an onboard graphics processor. That processor, combined with the speed and quality of the screen, gives the impression of great speed. And with the graphics prowess of the phone, it's not surprising that Samsung is emphasizing the device's gaming, entertainment and social media value over its enterprise chops.

Maybe their definition of "major US carrier" is different from mine. Mine includes VERIZON WIRELESS......not T-mobile. -- Global Warming and Creationism are to science what storks are to obstetrics... Larry
