Perhaps that is what Sardine did originally. In an earlier post in this
thread, he said, "I have no idea how I lost it but it was probably me as I
was installing and messing with W7/64."

I have rebooted now, after unchecking the box for "Indexing Service" that I
mentioned earlier, and see no noticeable change.

"Indexing service" is the legacy (XP/2003 eta) index. Try unchecking
"Windows Search" instead.
