I've got a number of spare USB Bluetooth thumbsticks gathering dust,
if you're interested in doing this then I'll test'em out in my G4 and
see if any of them work directly.

Yes, that's the behaviour that's now non-default in 2.3.

There are two versions: if you want to encode stuff you need to pay for
that version, but the playback-only version's always been free. They
might be deliberately trying to confuse "updates" with "upgrades"...

Just as an `FYI', the easiest way to find out about your hardware is
to go to `About This Mac' and then click `More Info', or load the
System Profiler application.
